At Good Roots Speech Therapy, we believe meaningful communication develops through connection, play, and everyday experiences.

We provide speech and language evaluations and individualized therapy sessions in a welcoming, child-friendly setting designed to help children feel comfortable, engaged, and ready to learn.

Therapy is personalized to your child’s unique strengths, interests, and needs, with a focus on developing functional communication skills that carry over beyond our therapy space and into play, daily routines, family interactions, school, and the community.

Our goal is simple: to create a supportive place where children can play, connect, communicate, and grow.

A Space Designed for Communication & Play🌿

Children learn best when they feel comfortable, connected, and engaged.

At Good Roots, therapy goes beyond sitting at a table. Sessions incorporate play, movement, books, games, toys, conversation, and meaningful activities based on your child’s interests and communication goals.

These natural, engaging experiences create opportunities to practice important speech and language skills while helping children see communication as something that is useful, meaningful, and fun.

Families are part of the process, too. We provide practical strategies and ideas that can be incorporated into everyday routines, helping your child continue building communication skills long after the therapy session ends.

The Good Roots Therapy Space 🌿

Our vision for Good Roots is a warm, language-rich environment created specifically for children to learn through communication, connection, movement, and play.

Rather than therapy feeling overly clinical, we want children and families to walk into a space that feels welcoming, playful, and supportive.

Whether your child is working on speech sounds, expanding language, building social communication skills, or finding new ways to express themselves, therapy is designed to meet them where they are and help their communication continue to grow.

Strong roots. Growing communication.

Our Approach 🌿

Child-Centered — Therapy is individualized around your child’s strengths, interests, personality, and communication needs.

Play-Based — Especially for young children, play creates meaningful opportunities to connect, communicate, problem-solve, and learn.

Functional — We focus on communication skills that help children participate more fully in everyday life.

Family-Centered — Families are an important part of the therapy process. We share practical strategies that can naturally fit into routines at home and in the community.

Evidence-Based — Clinical decision-making is informed by current evidence, professional expertise, and each child’s individual needs.

Where Communication Grows.

Hi, I’m Colleen!

I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist and the founder of Good Roots Speech Therapy.

With 9 years of experience, I’ve worked with children across a wide range of abilities and support needs. My areas of expertise include early childhood language development, speech sound disorders, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), elementary literacy skills, and oral motor/myofunctional therapy.

I created Good Roots around a simple belief: strong communication starts with a strong foundation.

My approach is individualized, play-based, and focused on skills that are meaningful in everyday life. I build on each child’s strengths and interests while helping families feel confident supporting communication at home.
